Southold Town Trustee Glenn Goldsmith

Southold Town Glenn Goldsmith is a Southold Town Trustee. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management from Quinnipiac University, where he was recognized as the top student in the School of Business. Glenn has been actively involved in the local marine industry for over 30 years. His family’s livelihood has been dependent on the health and well-being of the local marine environment for 94 years through Goldsmith’s Boat Shop, Inc., “The Oldest Continuous Marine Dealership in the USA.” Working for the family business, Glenn learned the delicate balance between the rights of a small-business owner and those of the environment. He also gained valuable experience in working with the Trustees, NYS DEC, Army Corps of Engineering, Suffolk County Health Department, and other regulatory agencies. He is a NYS DEC licensed Commercial Pesticide Applicator in Aquatic AntiFouling Paints, and is responsible for compliance with the NYS DEC Pesticide Reporting Law. He also developed and implemented the storm water pollution prevention plan for the marina to comply with state regulations. He regularly attends environmental training courses given by the DEC, NY Sea Grant, and other marine associations where he learns about the latest regulations and best management practices to mitigate the impact on the environment. Glenn is proud to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps, who also recognized the importance of protecting our vital estuaries for future generations, and served on the Board of Trustees for 34 years, including 13 as President. Glenn has proudly served the community for over 22 years as an active member of the Southold Fire Department, and expands on that community service as a Trustee. He grew up in Southold, and currently lives in Mattituck with his wife and two sons.
